Thank you!!!!! No, it will not run right or run at all. Probably not run at all. I tried running vr on a gtx 780 for fun, it was frames. It couldn't handle vr well at all. I'd say minimum for running ok vr is gtx 960. But alyx requires gtx 1060, don't skimp out on video card, alyx just from screen shots, looks like it needs a good video card.
It's a great system and I am very satisfied with it, I strongly recommend getting it unless you're really rich and have the money for an index because without a doubt the index is the absolute best system for alyx due to it's superior performance, hand tracking, pressure sensitivity, and higher resolution.
Keeping it simple, I really want to play this game however my Laptop specs are very low. I found a webpage (technical.city) that states I should be able to run it at low settings to a decent frame rate but it seems like a long shot. Specs: CPU - Intel i5 10300h GPU - Nvidia GeForce 1650ti Ram - 8gb Headset - Meta Quest 2 with link cable Help would be appreciated ːpixelpupsː
In time, Half-Life Alyx's No VR mod will become fully playable and will be made available to the public. Once this happens, Half-Life Alyx will no longer be a VR exclusive. Even so, the game will still play best in VR, as the game is designed to be played on a VR headset with motion controls.
And honestly? A non-VR version would be 2 hours long. If you already have a PC that will run Alyx's specs (expensive in its own right) I'd check reviews on how HL:A works on an occulus quest 2. If you can get 90% of the game's experience while saving $700 on a headset/controls that seems worth it for a lifelong Half Life fan.
Post article >>. Half-Life: Alyx non VR mod (driver) - allows to play in Half-Life: Alyx without VR on keyboard and mouse. This method allows to complete the game and try out VR mechanics. Some moments will make sweat, but they are passable in this way.

Alyx is really the only 'story' game I got for VR rn, and I have a someone who wants to try vr, but I want it to be a rather immersive or a memorable first time for them, so I thought a story game would help get this effect. But they've never played a half life game (and I've never even played alyx lmao) could one still enjoy alyx without previous game knowledge?
