Honda, Honda, Honda. No contest. Check both for recalls, IIRC 2015 was the first year for the KTM 390 and had a bunch of issues but the Honda might not be far behind. Googling Duke 390 reliability should solve this dilemma. The Duke and CB500F are polar opposites for reliability; the Honda will rarely break.
BikeWale brings you comparison of Kawasaki Z900 and KTM 790 Duke. The ex-showroom price of Kawasaki Z900 is ₹ 9,19,973 and KTM 790 Duke is ₹ 8,63,558. Kawasaki Z900 is available in 2 colours and 1 variant and KTM 790 Duke is available in 2 colours. Apart from prices, you can also find comparison of these bikes based on displacement, mileage
KTM reliability issues aside, the Duke 790 is an extremely torque happy bike, and would be hard to learn proper throttle control, and clutch management on. One whiskey throttle or accidental clutch dump, and you're probably going down. It's not even like a 600cc supersport where "theoretically", you could stay low in the rpms so you don't have
This is perfectly normal, especially if the outside temperature is above 30 degrees. I was in Madrid and I know how heavy the traffic there is. If you can not move more than 60-80 km/h for а longer time, then you can not cool the engine properly. Fans do not do miracles, they only help to blow/cool the radiator faster.
Power comes courtesy of the same 799cc double over head cam parallel twin motor first introduced in the KTM 790 Duke in 2018 but with but a bit snatchy and has reliability issues. Ride quality
The dealer said this is normal for the 790, at least it is known that more 790 engines have the same sound. Last week at the Zandvoort track (Duke is 2 years and 4 days old with 8400 km) in my second lap I heard a “poof“ sound and the engine went dead. The engine rotates when the starter button is applied but won’t start.
but if you fear for reliability (as the 2017 is the first rev of the new gen) go for the 2018 or 2019 - as they mostly have the problems prev. ones might have had sortet out (like on the 790: headgasket, routing of the tank overflowt tube)
KTM 790 Duke long term review, third report. KTM Bikes. KTM 125 Duke ₹ 1.68 lakh. KTM 200 Duke ₹ 2.13 - 2.31 lakh. KTM 250 Adventure ₹ 3.04 lakh. KTM 250 Duke ₹ 2.54 lakh. KTM 250 Duke Gen 3
Unfortunately, the KTM 390 Adventure did not agree with the latter part, and it felt uncomfortable staying under the 4,000rpm mark. Unlike the 790 series, where the Duke and the Adventure carry a completely different persona when it comes to engine tuning, the 390s do not. What KTM should’ve done is chopped a few BHPs from the top-end for an
An over-achieving puppy of a motorcycle, the KTM Duke 200 is the best $4,000 and/or <250cc street bike you can buy. Unfortunately for KTM, that's not a popular category in the US. It's a capable in-town runabout that you can legally take on the freeway if needed - you can even cruise at 87 miles per hour if you like hanging out at redline.
