Our 2.8 CRD has some issues - not sure if these are linked: firstly it's had problems starting - repeatedly turning it over and it doesn't seem to fire, this started a year ago and happened randomly, now it happens every day- it could start fine then afew hours later it won't start. It's so bad now that the battery regularly gets depleted. I believe there are only about 6-7 heavy guage wires and 2-3 three lighter guage (2 major wiring groupings in the column, and the smaller of the 2 has the heavy guage wires for starting) and I don't think you even need to mess with the other grouping.
